I Ate Way To Many King Size Candy Bars

I was having a bad day yesterday and was just feeling kind of down. I also had an awful migraine and just felt kind of overwhelmed. So I went to Rite Aid to buy some Excedrin Migraine and some Tylenol PM. I really don't want to tell anyone this but I also came home with 4 King Size Candy Bars and a bottle of Nail Polish. I felt like treating myself.

I don't know what it is about Migraines and chocolate but every time I have a migraine I want chocolate. Thank goodness this is the first migraine I have had in a long time. I usually take Excedrin migraine as soon as I get a headache to prevent it from turning into a migraine but I was out of it so I let it go for about 3 days (just being cheap) before it got so bad that I couldn't handle it anymore. I hate spending so much money on medicine.

Anyway, I got home last night and I ate two of the King Size Candy Bars. I ate a Butter finger and a Whatchamacallit and then took two Excedrin Migraine. An hour later my stomach was killing me but my migraine was almost gone. What a relief. I was actually able to sleep well for the first time since my family had the stomach virus. I woke up this morning headache free.

I can't stand headaches. They seem to take over your mind and drain you emotionally and physically. I am never going to let my headaches get that bad again. I need to make sure I always have some medicine on hand when I need it.

And The Number Is....Week 43 Weigh In

Correction: I obviously forgot how much I weighed last week. I actually lost 1 pound not .4 lbs. Now I'm super excited.

As you all know it was a crazy week for me. I didn't make it to the gym at all this week because of this stomach bug that that went through my whole household. Pretty much I didn't do much of anything activity wise. I barely left the house until today. The lack of activity I'm sure did not help my weight loss for the week.

When I stepped on the scale this morning I was pleased to see 176.8. That is a .4 loss for the week and almost brings me down to my lowest weight since I started this journey. I know the loss isn't much but I am excited anyway. I am so close to being back to my 40 pound loss.

You probably were expecting more of a loss this week with me having a stomach virus. Unfortunately when I was able to eat again the only things that I wanted were unhealthy. Like M & M's and anything else chocolate that I had in the house. I ate way to many M & M 's this week. :)

My Week In Review:

1. Exercise: No

2. Water: Not really.

3. Late night eating: No

4. Snacking: I ate lots of unhealthy snacks when I started feeling better. I went searching through the food I bought for my kids so that I could find something that sounded good enough to eat. Pop-tarts were my best friend this week.

5. Eating more fruits and veggies: No

What do I need to work on for next week:

I need to get more energy so that I can go back to the gym. The tiredness from this virus is driving me crazy. I want to be normal again.

I also need to start eating healthy foods again. Like Vegetables. Tonight we are having Sirloin Tips with peppers and onions, baked potatoes with fat free sour cream and a veggie or two. I can't wait.

Have You Tried These?

Check out this great snack my Mom dropped off for my girls a couple of days ago.

They are called Oreo fun Stix. They are so good! When my Mom dropped them off the other day I thought it was so mean because I have such a weakness for oreos. I was able to resist for a day but then decided the next day to eat one. When I picked up the box I noticed that it said on the front only 90 calories per serving.

I was so excited when I opened them up and ate them. For 2 P's I got two wafer type sticks with an oreo filling in the middle. I think they are meant to drink milk through like a straw. I'm not much of a milk fan so I just ate them plain. They taste just like oreos and I think they are very decent sized for 2 P's. The texture is a little more like a wafer but I didn't mind.

I am so excited to have found this new treat. I hope you all enjoy them as much as I do.

Today's Lunch

Today I was craving something spicy. Unfortunately when I made my lunch I forgot that I am still getting over this stomach virus.

I decided to make a wrap for lunch. I used a whole wheat tortilla, 1 slice of 2% cheese, and 7 slices of Oscar Myer Deli Fresh, Cracked Pepper Turkey Breast. Then I topped it with a little Franks Red Hot Buffalo Wing Sauce and a few leaves of Romaine Lettuce. It turned out to be so good. The only thing is that by the time I ate the first half my stomach was burning so bad that I couldn't eat the other half. If I wouldn't be getting over this virus I would have eaten the whole thing even with my stomach burning. That's the best part! :)

If you haven't tried Frank's Red Hot buffalo Wing Sauce you should give it a try. It really adds a lot of flavor.

And The Number Is .... Week 42 Weigh In

Week 42- A little late.

Unfortunately this post is almost a week late because of my whole family having a stomach virus. I had planned to write this post last Thursday afternoon when I got home but as soon as I got home I started with this virus. I have to honestly say my memory is awful and I can't remember everything I did last week. I know I went to the gym a few times and had a great workout learning how to use the machines.

I did work really hard last week to get back on track. I ate healthy and even planned a few meals for this week. Unfortunately I have been too sick to make any of those meals. I hope nothing has spoiled.

I was pleased on Thursday morning when I got on the scale. The number that I saw on the scale was 177.8. That brings me down another 1.2 pounds. I'm so excited. I am finally going in the right direction again. I really need to keep this up. I feel so much better about myself when I am eating healthy.

My Week In Review:

1. Exercise: I did make it to the gym a few times.

2. Water: I drank lots of water.

3. Late night eating: No

4. Snacking: I bought some new granola bars. My favorite Nature's Valley fruit and nut. They seem to hold me over longer then most of the others. I also bought a whole bag of raw almonds. I love those things.

5. Eating more fruits and veggies: I definitely ate more veggies. I had veggie soup a few days and a lot of salads. I'm sure I had other stuff I just can't remember. I do know that I need to eat more fruits.

Where Have I Been???

What a week. I think it has probably been about that long since I posted. On Thursday night I came down with a nasty stomach virus. I ended up in the emergency room 4 hours later and spent several hours there getting rehydrated and also getting some zofran through my IV for the nausea.

This was one of the worst stomach viruses I have ever had. It hit me so quick and it wouldn't quit until my stomach was empty. I still am very worn down and nauseous every time I move but I am trying to function as normal as possible because now I have two sick kids.

My youngest started with the stomach virus two nights ago and is still not feeling well or eating and my oldest started with a nasty head cold last night. When I get a little energy I am going to spray the house down with some Lysol to kill some of those germs.

I am a little bummed about our week. It has been the most beautiful week we have had for a while. It is warm and sunny and I want to go outside. It would be perfect bike riding weather. Unfortunately I have no energy and the kids aren't up to going out. I hope it stays nice for the weekend. I would love to take the girls to the pumpkin patch.

Well, I guess the only good thing about this virus is that I should be losing some weight. Honestly I haven't stepped on the scale for a few days so I'm not sure. I guess I will see on Thursday.

I will be posting a recipe I made on Thursday morning in the crockpot. I didn't get to have any because I got sick but it is an awesome recipe that I think you will all love. I will try to get it posted today or tomorrow so be on the look out.

Exercise and Lack Of Sleep

I made it to the gym today and met with my new trainer. I still have two sessions left and my old trainer got a new job. My new trainer is working on setting up a routine for me to use the weight machines along with a few other things. It was really fun learning how to use some different equipment. I told my trainer that if I keep this up I will have some nice muscles in no time. :) I could really feel the machines working.

I had planned on running today but when I got on the treadmill and started I only ran about 2 and 1/2 minutes before I was ready to fall over. So I decided to do a brisk walk for another 5 minutes and then be done for the day. It gave me a total of about 40 minutes of exercise for the day.

I think my problem is that I didn't get enough sleep last night. My husband and I stayed up until midnight watching the move "The Proposal" (gotta love Redbox!). It was one of the best movies I have ever seen. I laughed so hard through the whole thing. I have been doing a lot of work lately and I needed a good laugh. That and some time with my husband. It was a nice movie night without the kids.


Do you notice that when you don't get much sleep you have trouble exercising? Any suggestions for those days when you just feel so tired.

Product Review Part 2: Slim Shots

As you all know I have been reviewing the product Slim Shots for the past week. If you didn't read my last post about it click here. I am officially done with the free sample I was given and I have to share the results with all of you.

I will start off by telling you that I really did feel fuller when I used the product. My problem was that the full feeling did not keep me away from the chocolate in my house (don't worry it's gone. I ate it all.). I am awful. It doesn't matter how full I am I can still eat chocolate. Anyway, On the pro side I do think the product makes you feel fuller like the company claims.

Now to the cons of the product. Let me just say that they taste awful. I tried to mix the Slim Shots with things but they still left a nasty aftertaste in my mouth. The taste went away pretty quickly but that taste is just awful. It made me dread drinking my next one.

Also, the product did make me feel fuller but it didn't stop me from eating. I need to use willpower to lose weight not a product that I drink. I don't eat because I feel hungry. I eat because I am stressed. That is what I need to deal with. So for me this product would not work. I'm not saying it wouldn't work for other people because I do think it would. It just depends on your reasons for overeating.

Overall, I do feel like the product does what the company claims. If you have extra money and can get past the taste it definitely does make you feel fuller. I do think that this product could help people that are just starting a diet and feel hungry all of the time. If your problem is feeling hungry then you might want to give Slim Shots a try.

Sweet and Sour Chicken

I found this recipe today over at $5 It sounds simple, low fat and of course inexpensive coming in at $4.14 for the entire meal. How cool is that? I hope to try this recipe in the next week or two. Check out Erin's site $5 for tons of great recipes.

Sweet and Sour Chicken

1.38 lb chicken breast, diced ($2.06) On sale this week at Dots for $1.49/lb!
2 Tbsp vegetable or canola oil ($.10)
1/2 cup diced green bell pepper (free from the garden…this was the last of my peppers from the garden!)
1 clove garlic, minced ($.05)
1 tablespoon corn starch ($.05)
1/4 cup soy sauce ($.25) (GF meal if soy sauce is GF!)
1 (8 ounce) can pineapple chunks, with juice ($.79)
1 Tbsp vinegar ($.05)
1 Tbsp brown sugar ($.05)
1/2 tsp ground ginger ($.05)
1 cup rice ($.20)
1 12 oz. bag frozen corn ($.49) On sale this week, plus promotion and used $1 coupon!

**Buy generic/store brand soy sauce since there are rarely soy sauce coupons!

1. In large skillet over medium high heat, brown the diced chicken pieces in oil.
2. Add diced green bell pepper and garlic and stir-fry for 1 to 2 minutes.
3. In small bowl, whisk together corn starch and soy sauce, then pour the mixture into skillet along with the pineapple chunks, pineapple juice, vinegar, brown sugar, and ginger. Stir together and bring just to a boil. Reduce heat and simmer 5-10 minutes, or until sauce reaches desired consistency/thickness.
4. In medium saucepan, cook 1 cup of rice with 2 1/2 cups of water. Bring water to a boil. Add rice, stir and return to boil. Cover and reduce heat to medium. Cook for 20 minutes. Fluff the rice with fork before serving.
5. Cook frozen corn as directed on package instructions.
6. Serve Sweet and Sour Chicken over Rice with Corn.

Couch To 5 K Update

Yesterday I did the Couch to 5K Week 4. This is a 5 min. brisk walk, 3 min. run, 90 sec. brisk walk, 5 min. run, 2 1/2 min brisk walk and then repeat. I did it on the treadmill because their were a bunch of people on the track at the time. I prefer to do it on the track but I proved to myself that I can do it on the treadmill just the same.

My brisk walk was at 3.6mph and my run was 6mph. I'm not sure if that is good, bad or whatever it was just what I could do. The last 5 minute run was really hard but I was determined to not give up. I thought I might pass out the last minute. It's kind of funny because 2 weeks ago I did this no problem but because I didn't make it to the gym last week I really had trouble with the run yesterday. I definitely don't want to do that to myself again. It is much easier to just keep doing it every week. My body handles it so much better.

So next week I am going to start my week off with Week 4 of Couch to 5K again (even though I should be further) and then at the end of the week I will switch to week 5. I'm not sure what week 5 is but I hope I am ready for it.

For some reason I get such a thrill out of running. I think it is because I am overweight but I can still do it. I always thought I had to be skinny to run but I am realizing that I can do it with out being skinny. Granted it might be easier if I weighed less. I really can't wait for the day that I can run 30 minutes at a time. What a great workout that will be!

New Snack Find

I got a free sample of Nature Valley's Granola Nut Clusters a couple days ago. I think they are new and I was lucky enough to get a sample of the Nut Lovers (cashews, pecans, peanuts, granola and a touch of honey). This snack was great. It is one of my favorites right now. It is a little high in points because of all of the nuts but it is so worth it. A one ounce individual serving is 4 P's. To me they tasted like a peanut butter cookie shaped in a little ball. I will definitely buy them when I have some extra money. I'm not sure how much they cost but they are probably a little pricey because they are new.

Sausage Veggie Soup

I took a suggestion from Kristin of un-athletic runner. I wrote a post the other day asking for some inexpensive recipes. I mentioned that I had a package of sausage in the freezer and she suggested that I make a veggie soup.

That is exactly what I did. I boiled my sausage in a big pot and threw in peas, green beans, lima beans, corn from my in-laws garden and a bag of frozen mixed veggies. I also cut up a few potatoes and threw them in and three chicken bouillon cubes. I boiled it for a little while then put in a big can of tomato soup and a a jar of salsa. Then put it in a crock pot for about four hours while we were at soccer and church. To my surprise the soup turned out wonderful. I just put in what I had around the house and was completely shocked when it turned out tasting really good. It was raining ad snowing here today so it was so nice to have soup for lunch and dinner.

Thanks Kristin for the idea. I honestly would have never thought to put turkey sausage in veggie soup. It is kind of fun to play with ingredients that you have around the house and come up with something new. Now I have a huge bowl of veggie soup in the fridge and a large bowl in the freezer.

And The Number Is .... Week 41 Weigh In

This week has been a little better then last. I am really working hard to get myself back on track. Unfortunately my sister got me some chocolate from Wilber Chocolate factory and it was so good. Anyway, I ate way to much chocolate but other then that I did pretty good. I didn't make it to the gym much just because I had to do some things with my jewelry business. This coming week I will definitely make it to the gym more.

This week I also started using my free sample of Slim Shots. I think they may actually work. I'm not sure yet but I do seem to not feel hungry in between meals. Unfortunately I don't have to be hungry to eat chocolate. ;) Maybe I need something to help with my chocolate cravings and lack of willpower. Just kidding. I will let you know what I think the next few days now that the chocolate is gone. I will tell you that they are really gross to drink. I know I told you this before but the more I drink them the worse they taste. Yuck! I have been mixing it with a little chocolate milk to make it bearable but even with that it tasted bad. I was pleased when I got on the scale this morning. The number I saw was 179. That's a .8 lb loss. I know it isn't much but it is a step in the right direction and right now that is what matters to me. I am losing again!!! Yipee!

1. Exercise: I only made it to the gym one day this week. What a crazy week. I plan to do better this week. Also, I had a treadmill given to me last week so I hope to use it this week along with my other exercise equipment.

2. Water: I drank lots of water.

3. Late night eating: No

4. Snacking: I ate too much chocolate this week. My sister went to the Wilbur Chocolate Factory and brought me back some Almond Break up. It was wonderful but I ate so much that I finally decided to send the little that was left with my husband to work. I knew if I didn't do that I would eat the rest of it today.

5. Eating more fruits and veggies: I ate a few salads and a few apples this week. I really wish it was watermelon season again. I really miss my watermelons. I feel like I lived off of them all summer. It was so nice.

What do I need to do this week?

I need to be a little more strict with myself. I need to eat better and exercise more. This means a lot more salads and fruits. I really need to find a fruit that I love other then watermelon. I also need to make it to the gym more and on the days I'm not at the gym I need to exercise at home.
I want to start planning my meals throughout the week. I think it might help me financially and also help me to lose more weight.

Plateau :(

I am trying to get back on track this week so I decided to look back through my old posts for ideas of things I have done in the past and also recipes of things I have made. I am so glad that I started this blog at the beginning of my journey because it is so nice to look back at what worked for me and what didn't. I feel like I am stuck at a plateau right now and I am going to have to work extra hard to get out of it. I am realizing that I hate plateaus and I am really determined to get out of mine. :)

Anyway, I found this turkey meatloaf recipe that I posted a few months ago and I remembered how much I loved it. I am going to make it this week and I thought I would share it with all of you again in case you missed it the first time around. It really is the best meatloaf I have ever had. Even my husband thought it was awesome.

Here's the full recipe that I used. This will be the only meatloaf I ever cook again. I am so excited to have found such a good tasting, low fat,easy recipe.

The Most AMAZING Meatloaf Ever!

2 lbs. Lean Hamburger
1/2 cup bread crumbs
1/2 cup of raw oatmeal
salt and pepper
1/2 cup egg whites
1/2 cup of ketchup
6 low fat string cheese sticks

Mix ingredients (except cheese)together and lay about half of it in a big pan (I used a cake pan). Put 6 low fat string cheese sticks on top. Then cover with remaining hamburger mixture. I squirted a little zig-zag of ketchup on top and baked for about 45 min. to an hour. Half the time covered with foil.

Awesome Snack Idea!

I just had a craving for hummus. So when I opened the fridge to get it out it was sitting next to a bag of Lender's 100 Calorie bagels. I thought why not put it on a toasted bagel. So I toasted a bagel and put 1 TBSP of hummus on each half. It was awesome. It was definitely the best snack I have had in weeks. Now I don't have to go to all of the work of browning a tortilla on the stove every time I want hummus. :)

Quick, Easy and Inexpensive Dinner Suggestions?

I am leaving in an hour for a soccer game and I am trying to figure out what to make for dinner. We really don't have much food in the house right now and I am hungry for soup or just something warm. I have a ring of turkey sausage in the freezer.

Does anyone have any ideas for a low fat soup or anything I can make with it? Can you tell I am cold and am fighting turning the heat on. :)

Product Review Part 1: Slim Shots

I know that I told all of you that I would be reviewing a different product today but I have a little change of plans. This weekend I received a package of Slim Shots to review and I am just too excited to wait 3 months to try (I will be reviewing the next product for 3 months).

When I opened up my package from Slim Shot I was pleasantly surprised to find 14 Chocolate Shots. I was very happy that I got chocolate and not vanilla. Vanilla is their other flavor and I am not much of a vanilla fan. The little shots are so cute. They look just like a creamer container and they even sent me a travel container that holds the shots if I want to put them in my purse.

The information packet that I received with my shots states that shots are supposed to make you feel fuller so that you consume up to 30% less calories a day. Starting with day one. It also says that the shots contain no stimulants or fat blockers. They say it works with the body's natural processes which prevents side effects such a s increased blood pressure, jitters or tremors.

I will tell you that I am very cynical when it comes to weight loss products. But I am also excited to try it out to see if it really does what they say. I will be using this product for the next week to week and a half to see if it really works. The product guide says to use one to two shots per day but they recommend two. One at breakfast and one at lunch.

I will tell you that I drank the first shot with my lunch today. It smelled like hot chocolate but tasted a little gross. It had a slight after taste. It was not the most awful thing that I have ever tasted but I am really weird about the way things taste. I think next time I will mix it with a little chocolate milk, cereal, smoothie or what ever I can do to conceal the taste. Don't get me wrong. It wasn't disgusting. It just didn't taste good to me and I would prefer to cover the taste up. The directions state that it is ok to mix with your meal.

Other then the taste I haven't noticed a difference yet. I will let you know if I feel any different in the next few days. Please check back for my updates through out the next week and a half to see if Slim Shots really work.

And The Number Is..... Week 40 Weigh In

Ok, I am feeling kind of depressed at this moment. Not because I gained this week (I did but that's not the reason :)) but because I just typed week forty in the title of this post. I can't believe it has been 40 weeks since I started this journey and I have only lost 36.8 pounds. That is less then a pound a week.

Maybe this is the push I need to get my butt moving again.
I think since I lost 40 pounds I have relaxed a little with my eating (ok, maybe a lot). I need to get myself back on track and eat the way I know I need to.

This week I gained .4 pounds.
It doesn't sound bad but I have been gaining instead of losing for the past couple weeks and I really need to stop. I have decided today is the day to stop. Next week I am going to be telling you all how much I lost. Not how much I gained. :)

Today the scale said 179.8. That is up .4 and up 3.4 pounds from my lowest. I really want to get back to that 40 pounds lost.

On the up side I went to the mall with my sister today and found Three pairs of jeans (two with belts)and a beautiful sweater for $39. What a steal!

My Week In Review:

1. Exercise: I have been sick and unable to run. I went last Thursday and I may go tonight. I tried to go today but I just couldn't do it. The sore throat and headache are not helping.

2. Track My Points Every Day: No

3. Water: I drank tons of hot tea because of the sore throat.

4. Late night eating: No

5. Snacking: Yes, too much! When I am sick I only want junk food.

6. Eating more fruits and veggies: started eating salad again last night. It was great. I forgot how much I missed it.

What do I need to do this week?

I need to get rid of this nasty virus and start exercising again. I miss it. I also need to start eating better. I relaxed for the past few weeks because I lost forty pounds and I was feeling good but now I want to lose more. So that is what I am going to do! :)



Well it's been a rough week financially and physically. I am still trying to recuperate after the fair,my daughter's 5th birthday party and my church's new children's ministry. Not only did I put a lot of money into everything but I also wore myself out going to the fair 4 times (well worth it), and getting everything ready for the birthday party and also for the church group.

It doesn't help that on top of everything I got a nasty virus. I have been having nausea and a really bad sore throat for about 4 days now. What an odd combination! I am hoping today that I will be fine and I can go to the gym. I really want to run. On Tuesday I went to the gym but walked in and back out because I just couldn't do it. The nausea was so bad. At least I made the effort to get there. That's how bad I wanted to run. I swear it is addicting. I am going to try again today unless I start feeling sick before I leave the house. I heard that it is not good to work out if you are sick.

This week I have been back on my creative cooking path. With the lack of cash I have had to come up with some new ideas. Luckily we were able to eat leftover pizza from the party for a few days. That definitely helped. Then I made some hamburger bbq (with splenda) for us and for my sister that is pregnant and sick and in the hospital for a few days. Yesterday we had the bbq leftovers and a salad. Aldi had there bagged salad mix on sale for 50 cents a bag. I bought 8 of them. They were beautiful bags of lettuce mix. I bought them Tuesday and they still look awesome. Yesterday I put them in a tightly sealed Tupperware container. I love Tupperware. It keeps things fresh forever. Tonight we are having Pinto Beans and ham from two weeks ago. I froze it and now I will thaw it and have it with them fried potatoes in fried in PAM.

I'm not sure about the rest of the week yet. I need to get thoughts creative juices flowing. :) Please let me know if you have any inexpensive favorites. Now I am off to the gym. I hope.

Slow Cooker Meals and Weight Loss

If you add your crock pot into the weight loss mix it saves you so much time and money. It is the perfect time of year to pull out your crock pot and make some soup, stew and chili.

I'm sorry I have been missing for almost a week. Time just got away from me and before I knew it I forgot to post my weigh in or even post anything for almost a week. Sorry guys. I will try to not let that happen again. :)

My busy week was a great busy week. My daughter turned five on Saturday which meant baking cupcakes for her Pre-school class, soccer team and her birthday party. I only ate three of them which is really good for me.

We also had the fair going on this week. My trying to be good only lasted for about 10 minutes after we got into the fair. Who am I kidding, I didn't even try to be good at all. I ate everything and anything I wanted and it felt wonderful. I had so many fattening foods that I haven't had in so long. My friends couldn't believe that I could really eat that much. You know it's bad when your friends say that to you.

We also started a new Children's Ministry in our church yesterday so that took a lot of time getting everything ready. So now you see why I wasn't around much last week. Did I mention I went to the fair four days. On the up side I only gained two pounds. I really thought I was going to have gained 5-7 pounds. So lets just say I was very happy with two pounds.

The number on the scale last week was 179.4. Like I said, not bad for the way I ate. I am going to have to work hard this week to get it back off.

My Week In Review:

1. Exercise: I can run for 5 minutes at a time! I am so excited. I just started week 4 four Couch to 5 K and had no problems. I couldn't believe it.

2. Track My Points Every Day: No

3. Water: I didn't drink enough water. To much diet soda.

4. Late night eating: No

5. Snacking: Yes, too much!

6. Eating more fruits and veggies: I did have some lettuce and tomato on my Gyro and do potato pancakes count? :)

What do I need to do this week?

I need to get back on track after my rough week. I am going to the gym tomorrow to work on my running and also to do a little weight training.
