This week I had three picnics and mine and my husbands 7th Wedding Anniversary. I didn't pig out (except for the wonderful meal on our Anniversary) I tried to watch what I ate. I think it was just eating a little to much every day that killed me.
The the moment you have been waiting for. The awful number on the scale this morning was 191. I can't believe I gained this much in a week. Crazy! I am hoping it is water but when I look back at what I ate I am thinking it isn't water. It's me. It didn't help that I wasn't able to make it to the gym since Friday because of picnics, packing and cleaning.
I think this week is going to be hard but I am going to try to stay on track and stay away from McDonald's. I hope you all have a great week.

As you all have read I decided to try running on the treadmill at the gym on Wednesday. After reading all of your advice from my previous post here, I decided to try to run in intervals on the treadmill.
I used Carrie's (from Newlywed Girl) advice. She suggested intervals on the treadmill. So that is what I did. For 30 minutes I alternated walking at 3.5mph for two minutes and then running at 5mph for two minutes.
Honestly it was tough. I thought it was going to be a lot easier but by the time I was done I was ready to fall over. It almost seems like running on the treadmill is harder then running outside. But I survived and I am ready to go back today and do it again. I know it is just a start and I hope to work my way up to just running instead of intervals.
If anyone out there is a runner. I would love some advice. Is this how you get started running? Will I slowly be able to run longer? Should I keep pushing myself to run longer each time? I'm just not quite sure how I can get my body to be able to handle running without getting awful cramping in my side. Hopefully it will come with time.

Let's just say that last night at 2am I woke up and went down stairs and ate a pack of those tastykakes that I have been drueling over for the last 3 days. I held out so long and then at 2am I ate them. I feel like a nutcase. I really felt so aweful about myself when I went back up to bed.
My exercise has been great this week. I started running on the treadmill. How awesome is that? I will tell you more about it in my next post. It is so exciting to be able to run.
I also went shopping yesterday which was really fun and my new clothes are great. I will have to take some pictures and show you all of the cute clothes and tell you about my experience of buying a smaller size.
And the moment you have all been waiting for. When I got on the scale this morning the number that saw was 187.8. This is a loss of 1.6 pounds this week and a total loss of 28.2 pounds. Yeah!!! It really feels great to see my hard work paying off
My Week In Review:
1. Exercise: This was a great week for exercise. I went to the gym four days plus I got in a little exercise playing with the kids.
2. Track My Points Every Day: I am still not tracking my points like I should be. I am paying for this feature. Why am I not using it???
3. Exercise Points: I probably ate some of my exercise point this week when I was at my nephews birthday party.
4. Water: I think I should have drank a little more some days.
5. Late night eating: This has been such a problem the last few weeks. For some reason I feel like I am starving at night. I really need to get some lower fat snacks to much on. Maybe some Pirate's Booty ;). I really do think part of the problem is that I am not eating enough filling foods at dinner time. I will have to work on this.
6. Snacking: I snacked a lot this week. I can't tell you how many granola bars and apples I have eaten this week. At least I am sticking to mostly healthy snacks.
7. Eating more fruits and veggies: I ate a ton of veggies this week. I really did great in this area. It is so nice to have my house stocked with fruits and veggies.
My goal for this week is to lose that 1.8 pounds and be able to say that I have lost 30 pounds. I am leaving for vacation next wednesday morning so I will be doing my weigh in then instead of Thursday. It will feel so great to go on vacation knowing that I lost 30 pounds. I'm so excited!
I hope you all had a great week. Check back later for my post on my treadmill run.
The winners of the contest are Crystal from A Little Less Crystal and Angie from My Weight Loss Progress. Congrats Ladies! I will be emailing you the info you need in the next few minutes.
Thanks to everyone who entered the giveaway and a big thanks to PictureYourselfThinner!

We really had a great time. We got to see a huge Carp jump out of the water. It was pretty neat. We did a lot of walking, running and playing kick ball. It is so nice to be active with my girls.
As I was running around with them I realized how far I have come. A few months ago I wouldn't have even imagined running around the park with them. For one thing I probably wouldn't have been able to do it without getting winded and I probably would have been to embarrassed to run around in front of people.
Today was great. I ran around without being embarrassed. Yes, I am overweight and it probably isn't a pretty sight to see but I am just so proud of how far I have come and that I can actually do it. :) I don't even care what others think. I feel good!!!
I ran with my daughter for several minutes without getting winded. This actually shocked me. I just wanted to keep running. Unfortunately my daughter is only four and she got tired. I can not wait to get on the treadmill at the gym tomorrow and see how long I can run.
Up until today I just assumed that I couldn't run. Now I know that I can and I am so excited to see how long I can go without getting winded. I guess the exercise on the elliptical is really working.
We had such a great time. I want to try to take them to the park at least once a week throughout the summer. It will be fun for me to come up with new creative ways to get some exercise in while having fun with my kids.
My daughter loves this rock wall. I would love to be a kid and climb it. Maybe next time. :)
Don't forget that today is the last day to sign up for my giveaway. If you would like to enter please click /giveaway.html">here.
I will admit that they smell better then they taste but they still taste really good. They smell just like real cheesecake and taste kind of like cheesecake. Not bad for 2 P's. It's a nice alternative to a cookie.

Does anyone know if burning 400 calories exercising is a good amount to burn in a day in order to lose weight? I think I am going to do a search online and see what I can find.
Sometimes I just wish I had a little extra time to exercise. It is so hard for me to get the kids up, dressed, hair done, drinks and snacks packed, fed and given medicine before we get out the door. Then I also have to get myself around (coffee, breakfast, dressed, hair done and clean clothes packed for the gym). I can't seem to make it out the door before 10:15am. By the time I get to the gym and get the kids checked in it only leaves me with about 45 minutes to exercise. Does anyone have any advice? I really don't want to get out of bed earlier. We usually sleep until 8:00am.
If anyone feels the same way I would love to hear about how you deal with exercise and time constraints.

So back to yesterday. My nephews birthday party was at a local amusement park which was amazing and we all had a great time. We had hamburgers and hot dogs on the grill (one of my many summer weaknesses) and many other great foods. I just had a hot dog, some pizza dip, bongo dip, haluski and a ton of veggies and full fat dip. Not an awful meal but that was just the beginning.
Then I had a cupcake with a ton of icing (really good) and of course a piece of cake before we left (again, really good). Then at night before we left the park I had a little of my daughter's hot fudge sundae. It was huge and she wouldn't share the hot fudge. :)Then I had three tri-taters for dinner. I can never leave without those tri-taters covered in salt and dipped in ketchup. They were amazing. Probably because they were fried in lots of oil.
I really need to figure out a way to control myself and stay away from that stuff when we are out this summer. We are going to be doing a lot of picnicking and going to amusement parks and I don't want to ruin my diet every time we go. The sad part is I ate the tri-taters while I was staring at a really good baked potato stand. I am really lucky that this park has baked potatoes, pizza and salads. Now if only I could convince myself to eat that stuff.
Well, I am not going to dwell on it. I ate my first and only tri-tators for the year. Next time I will get the pizza and a salad. The baked potatoes are good but I have trouble eating them on a hot day. I do love the pizza but unfortunately so does everyone else so the line is always huge.
Another funny part of the day that I thought I would share. My daughter convinced my husband and I to buy her a hermit crab. She was so cute and excited so we said yes. What were we thinking? Those things are nasty.
We got home and my daughter took it out of the cage. The thing stood up and it was huge. Then it started running. I almost died. I am so deathly afraid of this thing. Unfortunately so is my daughter now. It started running at her and she freaked out. The poor thing was in her booster seat at the table and couldn't get down. I was able to pick it up with the lid and another toy and after dropping it on the table I finally got it back in the cage.
We decided that it is never coming out again. I found some really heavy tape and taped the whole cage shut. My mom freaked me out by telling me that they can get out of those little cages by pushing the top open. The poor ugly thing. I am not looking forward to feeding time. Now I know why my Mom always said "No" when I wanted one. They are scary!

I didn't make it to the gym as much as I wanted to because of everything that was going on this past week but I definitely got in a lot of exercise. I was on my feet for days cooking, setting up and cleaning up after the party.
I was able to try some new recipes this week. Some I liked and some I didn't. I made a red chard and caramelized onion salad that was gross. :) I did very well controlling myself this week. With all of the leftovers in the house it was very hard. I gave a lot away and the rest I packed in my husband's lunches. The only problem I did have was that I ate about 5 cookies that my mom and I had made for the party. They were amazing sugar cookie decorated to look like a cupcake. They seriously were awesome. I could eat a dozen at a time if I let myself. I still have some left but I will not let myself touch them.
And what you have been waiting for. When I stepped on the scale this morning the number that I saw was 189.4. This brings me to a total loss of 27.2 pounds. Yeah!!! I am so excited to be back in the 180's. It seemed like it took forever and I have now decided that I really, really hate the 190's and really never want to go back. 185 here I come!
It is very exciting to think that in a few short weeks I will be in the 170's. Some people may say I am crazy to start thinking about that when I just got into the 180's. But I think this is what keeps me going. Dreaming about what it will feel like when I lose another 10 pounds. So exciting isn't it?
My Week In Review:
1. Exercise: I think I did fairly decent in this area this week. I didn't make it to the gym much but I did take a bike ride, go for a two hour walk and plan a party and make food for 70 people. I definitely think the party planning counts as exercise. My body never hurt so bad in my entire life. I seriously contemplated going to the emergency room the night after the party. Luckily I have a great husband who massaged my legs and feet until I could go to sleep and by the next morning I was much better. I could walk anyway. :)
2. Track My Points Every Day: I didn't track my points as much as I would have liked to but I did track them in my head. I really need to get back to using the online tracker.
3. Exercise Points: I didn't eat these this week.
4. Water: I drank a ton of water this week.
5. Late night eating: Last night I did eat a little chocolate in the middle of the night. I woke up around midnight and thought that I forgot to let our dog back in. I went downstairs and he was in the house so I decided to eat chocolate. I seriously don't think straight in the middle of the night.
6. Snacking: I really have not had much time for snacks this week. With the party and cleaning the house after the party it has just been crazy. When I did snack I grabbed a Fiber One Bar.
7. Eating more fruits and veggies: I ate a ton of veggies this week. My house was stocked with fruits and veggies. I had Romain lettuce, red chard, arugula, dandelion, eggplant, apples and pairs.
Well, I am off to the gym. Hopefully I can make it on the elliptical for at least 45 minutes. I am pretty tired today. I think because it is so dreary outside. I have much more energy when it is sunny. I hope you all have a great day and make sure you sign up for my giveaway here if you haven't already. Check back later to find out how my eggplant pizza turns out tonight. I love trying different recipes.

They are giving away a FREE photo to “TWO” of my readers. You have a chance to win a realistic thinner photo of yourself to motivate your weight loss journey. The contest runs for 7 days starting today May 13, 2009 until midnight on May 19, 2009.
The PictureYourselfThinner folks have created a tool that allows you to see what your "Trim" self might look like before you get there. Basically, you send them your "before" photo and they do some sort of presto-chango magic weight loss reduction imaging that returns to you an image of a thinner, healthier you. How awesome is that?
Check out their gallery for other real people’s actual "before" and the projected "after" photos along with testimonies. I love that these women all look *healthy*--no cutting of heads and pasting on model-thin bodies.
The Cost of an Entry? A Comment, of course. :)
Check out the PYT website and the PYT Blog , then simply return to my blog here where perhaps you may like to comment on how having a photo of a thinner you might inspire you....or not. Get another entry just by subscribing to my blog and listing it in the comments.
I'll post the two winners names at the end of contest. Winners will be randomly selected from the comments left by you on my blog. Good Luck to All!
The hotel room has a full kitchen in it. I think this is really going to help us save money. Instead of going out to eat for breakfast and dinner every day I can cook at the hotel. This will also help my diet because I won't be as tempted to eat something that I shouldn't. It will be nice to plan everything ahead of time. I'm sure we won't be able to eat dinner at the hotel every night but every little bit helps.
Not only did I realize that we needed a hotel room but I realized that I have to wear a bathing suit in two weeks. Yikes! I wanted to be in the 170's by the time we went on vacation. It doesn't look like that is going to happen. I do hope to be back in the 180's by tomorrow. It's a good start but I still don't think I am able to lose 10 pounds in two weeks. That probably wouldn't be healthy. Oh well. I will have to get over it.
I still have to go bathing suit shopping. I am so not ready for that. I was hoping I would weigh less before I went shopping for a suit. They are so expensive and I don't want to order one online. I guess I am going to have to go out to the mall and see what I can find. I will let you all know how it goes. I probably won't go until next week or even early the week after.
I'm off to watch my sisters kids for the day and then off to the gym. I also would like to go on a bike ride with my family later tonight. I hope this will help to get me in the 180's for weigh in tomorrow. Wish me luck!

My dinner tonight was a recipe by Rachel Ray. The picture doesn't look very appetizing but it was really delicious and low fat.
It is called Whole Wheat Pasta Arrabbiata with Arugula. I bought some Arugula and needed a recipe to make using it. This is a low-fat one I found online. It made six servings and the servings were huge. I ate mine with a salad of Romain lettuce, a sprinkle of pecorini-romano cheese and light raspberry vinaigrette. It was a delicious filling meatless dinner. Yum!
The recipe calls for grated pecorino-romano cheese. I never purchased it before and now I know why. It is expensive. It was $7.99 a pound. I only needed a cup but I had to buy a whole pound. Which is OK because it is amazing. I love to eat it on salads.
The whole meal only cost right around $5.00. It was spicy and I enjoyed eating something different. It is a definite keeper. Even my 4 year old daughter loved it.
Whole Wheat Pasta Arrabbiata with Arugula
From Every Day with Rachael Ray
FOUR TO SIX SERVINGS
1 pound whole wheat penne rigate or gemelli pasta
1/4 cup extra-virgin olive oil (EVOO)
1 small red onion, finely chopped
4 cloves garlic, grated
1 teaspoon crushed red pepper
1 tablespoon balsamic vinegar
One 28-ounce can diced fire-roasted tomatoes
1 cup grated pecorino-romano cheese
4 cups arugula, coarsely chopped
1. Bring a large pot of water to a boil, salt it, add the pasta and cook until al dente. Drain, reserving a ladleful of the cooking water.
2. While the pasta is working, in a deep skillet, heat the EVOO, 4 turns of the pan, over medium heat. Add the onion, garlic and crushed red pepper and cook for 5 minutes. Stir in the vinegar, then the tomatoes. Season to taste with salt and black pepper and simmer over low heat for 10 minutes.
3. Add the pasta and reserved pasta cooking water to the skillet and toss for 1 minute. Add the cheese, then toss in the arugula and cook until wilted, 1 minute longer.

These are the cookie favors my Mom and I made.
Makayla loved all of her presents!
I got up really early today am went to the gym. I was exhausted and my feet and legs are still killing me but it felt good to get some exercise. It had been two weeks today since I was at the gym last. I went on the elliptical for 55 minutes. I had only planned on 45 but Ellen had Allison Sweeny on today and she was talking about the new Nintendo Wii game coming out sometime soon. It is called AE Sports Active Personal Trainer. It looks like a lot of fun.

And the number on the scale this morning was 191.5. I am actually happy about this. I lost half a pound this past week and I really thought I might gain 5. It was just such a crazy week. We left for my in-laws on Friday morning and got back after the funeral late Tuesday night. I really did not have any time to count points or even try to count points. I was actually chasing my one year old around the whole entire time. That's right. I said one year old. My baby also turned a year old on Monday. :) It makes it harder when every place you go is not child proofed. My baby was into everything she could get her hands on. It seemed like everything sitting around my in-laws house was glass. I am thankful that nothing got broken and that I got lots of exercise.
This week I ate what was around I just tried to eat smaller portions. Most of the food was not low fat so I had to be careful. My baby had a hard time sleeping at my in-laws. So I was up with her for a few hours every night. This of course led to snacking on chocolate. It was a crazy tiring week (emotionally and physically) and I am glad it is over.
This Saturday we are having my daughter's Birthday Party at my Church. We have about 70 people coming and I am cooking all of the food with the help of my mom. This is the menu we have planned.
Barbecue chicken ( with homemade barbecue sauce (my grandfather's recipe. It's to die for))
Ham and Swiss cosmo sandwiches with a special sauce drizzled over the top (Yum)
Baked Potatoes w/ sour cream and butter
Salad (with some kind of special dressing that my friend is making)
Fruit Salad (my friend is making)
Hot Pepperoni pizza dip
Hot Buffalo Chicken dip
Bongo Bongo dip
Chips and Pretzels
Homemade guacamole, salsa, sour cream and chips (my sister is making)
Rice Krispie treats shaped like mini cupcakes with the tops dipped in chocolate and sprinkles.
Then I have to make about 170 cupcakes. We are doing a cupcake themed party and I am decorating with over sized cupcakes. I am going to line them down the center of each table. I will pipe the icing on top almost like you would an ice cream cone and then put a cherry with a stem still in it on the top. The other 70 cupcakes will be for everyone to eat instead of cake.
I lost 5 days of planning so I really need to get moving. I probably won't be posting again until Monday because of the party and then Mother's Day but I have a ton of cool stuff to share with you next week.
My Week In Review:
1. Exercise: My exercise consisted of chasing a 1 year old around for 5 days straight. I really can't wait to get back to the gym.
2. Track My Points Every Day: I didn't track my points like I planned. I will start again this week.
3. Exercise Points:
4. Water: I did not drink the amount of water that I should have. I really don't like my in-laws water so it was very hard. I am so used to my water cooler. I am so glad to be home.
5. Late night eating: I really wish my baby would sleep. It is killing my diet.
6. Snacking: I snacked more then I should have. It was so stressful this week and sometimes I didn't know what else to do.
7. Eating more fruits and veggies: I did eat a ton of veggies this past week and my fridge is stocked right now. I can't wait to eat them all.
Wish me luck with the party this weekend. I have to remind myself to stay away from the cupcakes. What was I thinking having a cupcake themed party? I know that I can't stay away from those things. :) I will post some pictures on Monday. Have a great week!
