A Great Point Friendly Meal

Yesterday was my sisters Birthday so I took her to Cracker Barrel for a Birthday lunch. If you are ever looking for a restaurant that has point friendly meals you should check out Cracker Barrel. They have so many point friendly meals to chose from and the food is always great.

This is what I had.

To start I had a side salad with fat free ranch dressing.

Then I had Chicken and Dumplings (which I call chicken pot pie), green beans and carrots. What a huge meal. I actually ate most of it while we were there and then the leftovers (plus my daughters leftover mac & cheese) for dinner. It was wonderful. I always seem to get the same thing at Cracker Barrel and I think I enjoy it more each time.

Here are some cute pics from our lunch. They all had dessert but I resisted the urge :).

I always have a hard time eating out. It's so hard to resist the urge to order a hamburger and eat the whole thing! Way to go on your choices!

What beautiful children!!!

I never thought of the Cracker Barrel as being point friendly at all. Then again, I always get the same thing, too: Chicken fried steak, mashed potatoes, gravy...not point friendly! lol We don't have one anyhwere near us, so I don't have to worry about the temptation of it.

Cracker Barrel is not my friend, I go carb crazy there. The biscuits...mmmm! So glad you were able to make good choices though! Your sister looks a lot like you huh?

Cute pictures. People rave about Cracker Barrels ... but alas we don't have them here in northern CA.

Looks like you had a fun time! :)

No cracker Barrels in sight over here in the San Francisco Bay area. ::SIGH::: But I think its a good thing considering Jo said that they serve chicken fried steak! lol

Cracker Barrel (or the Crack house as I like to call it) and I have a love/hate relationship. I love the comfort food but the sodium always leaves my fingers swollen and several pounds of water weight on the scale.

I do like breakfast there, turkey sausage, egg beaters, whole wheat toast!

Your babies are adorable!!

how many points did you count for your whole meal?

Wendy,
chicken and dumplings - 5 (I counted it as ten because it looked huge. I ate it for lunch and dinner.)
carrots 1 (May have been more because they tasted a little sweet.)
green beans 1
salad w/ ff dressing - 1

Thanks for all of the compliments on my kids. I can kind of see why some people may not think of Cracker Barrel as point friendly. They do have a ton of unhealthy stuff. My favorite is the Bacon Double Cheeseburge and onion rings. I do like that can get the Weight Watchers points values for things ahead of time and chose what I want before I get their. Fortunately for me I really like the Chicken and Dumplings. I used to get them most of the time before I knew they were low fat. They really taste fattening to me. They also have plenty of veggies and veggie soups to choose from.
It really is hard to go out to eat and make the right choices. I like to find places that I have the easiest time doing this with (such as Red Lobster or Cracker Barrel) and try to go to them whenever I go out to eat. The killer is the biscuits and muffins they give you before you get your food. My trick is to always get a side salad. They ussually bring it out right away and it keeps my mind off of those fattening high point breads.

My daughter just told me that she couldn't tell which one was me and which was Aunt Heather. I guess we do look a lot alike :).

That food looks so good. I never would have thought of Cracker Barrel as point friendly. Did you find the NI on the Web site? I always thought the veggies would be coated in butter and oil.

One of my fave things to get there is the veggie plate with mashed potatoes, green beans, dumplings and apples. Man, I may have to go there this weekend!

Jessie,
I found the Points values on the Weight Watchers site. There is another site that lists that info for free. I can't think of it right now but if I remember it I will let you know.
