Midnight Munchies

Does anyone else have a problem with waking up in the middle of the night hungry? Last night my daughter was feeling better but I still woke up at 12am feeling like I was starving. So what did I do? I walked down stairs and ate a Hershey's bar with Almonds and finished off my bag of Baked Cheetos. The sad part is that I didn't even care at that point that I was ruining the chance of losing weight this week. What is wrong with me? I did great all day yesterday and then ruined my efforts by eating chocolate and Cheetos at 12am. I had this problem when my baby was real little and I was still breast feeding but I haven't gotten up in the middle of the night to eat (unless kids are sick) for about 4-5 month. If anyone has any advice on how to handle the midnight munchies I would greatly appreciate it.

I've found that midnight munchies often mean a good weight loss in the morning. I combat them by telling myself I don't want to ruin that. I really can't get out of bed and eat anymore because my dogs totally tell on me and would cry and wake up hubby.

I'd say just allow yourself a small evening snack of a protein and healthy carb and when you wake up hungry know its not time to eat yet.

Scale Junkie,
Thank you so much for this advice! I love the idea of thinking about the weight I must be losing if I am feeling hungry in the middle of the night. I think this is really going to work for me.
Thanks again!

I think it might be something genetic. I do wake up hungry in the middle of the night sometimes. I'm too lazy to get out of bed and walk all the way downstairs to get something to eat. My new blog is money-savingmommy.blogspot.com

I would also say to eat a small protein/carb combo in the evening.

Just a couple hours before bedtime, have a pear with cheese, or triscuits and some peanut butter.

Lori,
I love pears and cheese. Thank you so much for the advice. My local grocery store has pears on sale this week. I am going to try it this week.
Thanks again!
